Freedom of the press requires truth

President Obama’s replacement of  General Stanley McChrystal with General David Petraeus has once again exposed the blatant deception of much of America’s media.  This general was blasted as “General Betray-us” not quite 3 years ago when he was chosen by President Bush to lead the war in Iraq.  Now, the same media is calling President Obama’s choice “brilliant”, while purging their archives of this previous outrage against a great military leader.

I must scream from the mountaintop that FREEDOM OF THE PRESS REQUIRES TRUTH.  Otherwise, it is just PROPAGANDA.  Any student of history knows the results of feeding the citizens propaganda.
We are all in danger of losing our freedoms because our media has been taken over by ideologues who are pushing an agenda and are not being journalistically honest.
A free society cannot remain free with a steady diet of propaganda.  We don’t have to agree on policies, but we must have the INTEGRITY to present the FACTS, no matter how we may interpret them.

JUST TELL THE TRUTH!! And you will not find it necessary to purge stories from your archives.

Poetic Justice

It has been called poetic justice. Some call it Karma. Some say, “What goes around, comes around”. But whatever description you choose, the Democrats railing against George Bush for his slow response to Katrina has come back to bite them in the pants. It’s even Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, again. A Republican playwright could not have written a story like this if he tried.

This time, the governor of Louisiana was not inept, like the previous one, and it was the President and his administration that actually has stood in the way of action to mitigate the results of the disaster. Ask Bobby Jindal about that.

The President tried to revive his sagging poll numbers by stooping to profanity on a daytime television broadcast to show how “tough” he is. He just couldn’t pull it off. Maybe he should have sent Rahm Emanuel, the Chicago hit man, to take his place. Rahm knows how to do it the Chicago way. There are lots of examples of that.

But the best part to me is that the issue that may destroy Barack Obama’s administration is not taking over private corporations, or destroying our healthcare system, but it is OIL. Oh, he’s against drilling and such, but his ineptness as an executive has been magnified by his financial connection with BIG OIL, and his unwillingness to stand face to face with the CEO of BP and make some vital decisions. Once again, he has followed his old pattern of voting “present” instead of being a CEO himself.

During the campaign, many suggested that Sarah Palin, as a “vice-presidential” candidate, actually had more executive experience than the Democratic nominee for “President.” Her experience came as a governor of an OIL state and her confrontation with BIG OIL executives.

Oh, here’s an idea!!! Maybe President Obama could ask Sarah Palin to be his special emissary to BP. I bet she would know immediately who needs a butt-kicking and she can do it!

Another Liberal Giant Exposes Her Inner Soul

Conduct yourself wisely. There is Freedom of Speech in America, but it carries with it, consequences.

Helen Thomas, the so-called dean of the White House press corps, did not come to her conclusions about Israel overnight. It was painfully obvious that she, in an unguarded moment, exposed her soul. Perhaps her advanced age of 89 years could be blamed for her indiscretion if it were not painfully obvious that she continues to retain her mental faculties to this present day. She just let her inner soul come out, and it was ugly.

I can’t comprehend her basis for such outrageous comments. Is she ignorant of history? Does she not know what Germany and Poland were responsible for prior to, and during World War 2?

Does she not know that Jerusalem is called the city of David? His son, Solomon, built the beautiful temple that was later destroyed by the Persians. The “wailing wall”, a remnant of Herod’s temple, built in 20 B.C., attests to ownership of Jerusalem by the Jews. Occupiers? Hardly. Just asserting prior ownership.

Helen Thomas has a right as an American to say anything she wants, but there is a personal price to pay for Free Speech. I do not have to endorse it, nor am I required to give you the platform to say it.

Freedom of speech must be protected for a free society to exist, but hate speech should be, and must be, shunned by a society that values Truth from its citizens, no matter how prominent they may be.

Chicago on the Potomac

It seems that we now are experiencing “Chicago on the Potomac”. Although I have never lived in Chicago, the stories are well established that the “Windy City” has for decades been run by a political machine. Elections are simply small distractions, just bumps in the road, for those who are wielding power and influence. After being elected, the will of the voters is forgotten and the will of the power merchants becomes supreme. The unions and the community organizers chart the course of the administration.
Surprisingly, this type of “dictatorial” leadership has had great success for the Obama administration on a nationwide scale, because most Americans still refuse to believe that any President would blatantly rule against the will of the people. They continue to give our President the benefit of the doubt, refusing to believe that his administration would “intentionally” do what they are doing.

All former Presidents, both Democratic and Republican have chosen not to go too fast or too far, for fear of being voted out of office after one term. But the Chicago paradigm that these politicians have grown up in is different. They have experienced in Chicago that with the power of the unions, the voter manipulation by groups like ACORN, and the complacency of an electorate that is so gullible to smooth talking politicians, that they will still retain power for decades to come. After all, that’s how it works in Chicago.

The Democrats, led by Barack Obama, Rahm Emanuel and his Congressional “useful idiots” who are all-to-willing to surrender their constitutional power, are counting on this not only get past 2010, but to seal our country’s destiny by winning again in 2012. I sincerely hope that they are wrong!

Wrong this time

After reading my last blog, “Shaving with a Borrowed Razor”, it confirms to me that I am not a prophet. I supposed that the Obama Healthcare Bill would be halted in Congress. It wasn’t. Scott Brown’s election, though an amazing feat, was not enough to turn the tide against this horrible piece of legislation.

Many are suggesting a significant defeat of liberal Democrats in the fall and a complete repeal of Obamacare. I fear that repeal will not happen, but instead will just be replaced by a smaller Republican revision of the same. Hopefully, state supported abortion will be eliminated.

But as a country, we are hurtling toward economic collapse and a loss of many freedoms. Hopefully, my prophecy will again be wrong.

A Borrowed Razor

The recent election in Massachusetts brought to mind the strange title of a sermon I read many years ago – “Shaving with a Borrowed Razor.” This unusual phrase is found in the seventh chapter of Isaiah. After promising a “future” king for Israel - the virgin born child - God tells Israel that he will use a godless, Gentile king to bring an “immediate” judgment to the rebellious people of God.

In other words, in His sovereignty, God can use anyone or anything to bring about His will.

I was thrilled to hear that Scott Brown was elected to fill the seat of liberal, Ted Kennedy from Massachusetts. The irony is that the Health Care bill, that was framed as a tribute to Ted Kennedy, has been dealt a critical blow by this election result.

As a conservative, I have “many” issues with this bill. As a Christian, I have “one” major problem. It includes provisions for using my tax money to pay for the murder of the innocent unborn. If a doctor were to go through a hospital nursery killing the newborns there, he would be considered insane and would be arrested for murder. If he does the same thing only hours earlier in the delivery room, he is considered a caring physician. This is abhorrent reasoning, and to think that I was going to be “forced” to pay for it.

So this is the reason for my Biblical notation above. Scott Brown is a fiscal conservative, but did you know he is pro-abortion just like Ted Kennedy? It appears that God has used the seat of a leading liberal pro-abortionist, won by a conservative pro-abortionist, to answer my prayer to stop this ungodly bill with this awful provision.

Once again, God has shown His sovereignty and his mercy to Christians by ironically “shaving with a borrowed razor.”
Proverbs 6:17 “the Lord hates hands that shed innocent blood.”

The Ship of State Turns Slowly

In other words, no matter how popular you are, don't rock the boat too much.

There is a place for change as society changes, but our government has been so stable because nothing moves too quickly. That is a frustrating truth to most of us, because we want instantaneous results. But our founders showed their brilliance by establishing this kind of structure for governing our nation.

The election of a Republican, even a moderate one, would be impossible in Democratic Massachusetts if the Obama administration had not tried to turn the Ship of State too radically.

That is the lesson of yesterday's election.
